Replacement Pi Camera Tab

We had a student break the tabs to the Camera connector. Does anyone know where to get a replacement tab?

Can I get clarification that it’s just the tab and not the actual connector housing? Just want to make sure before we provide any further guidance. If you could provide a photo that would be even better. Thanks.

It is difficult to get a picture. The connecter is sound, but the tab was broken off.

Thanks for confirming. I’m working with our support team to come up with a solution. Will have an answer in the next day or two.

Let’s chat about this on our support call. We are procuring some of these to test replacing the tab:

But a short-term workaround would be to use the CAM1 port. If you can get your camera connected to that port I can walk you through updating your ROS2 launch file to use that port instead of CAM0.

Hello,
I wanted to follow up about our drone. We flashed our drone with the Dexi OS 0.05 for AVR and now it is fully functional! We are able to connect it to the internet and everything looks set on QGround Control.

When we received the ARK board, we noticed a crack in the camera port 0 connector, rendering it unusable. As we followed along with the videos and AVR forum, we realized we can use port 1. However, we also noticed the solder on camera port 1 looked mis-soldered. When pulling on the tab to insert the ribbon cable to port 1, the csi/dsi connector completely sheared off.

We saw that there is an micro hdmi port on the board. Is it possible to somehow use that port for the pi camera instead? We found a micro hdmi to 22 pin ribbon cable adapter from adafruit, product ID: 3559 that would allow us to utilize the pi camera and hook into the micro hdmi port.

Two questions:

Outside of soldering new csi/dsi connectors, do you think that this adapter is a viable solution?

What/where in the ROS2 code would we change?

AFAIK you cannot use the micro HDMI port as input, as HDMI ports are only one-way (i.e. can only take video input or give video output).

If you look at this diagram from the ARK website, you can see that the arrow to the M-HDMI is pointing away from the Pi CM4, indicating that it is one-way video output.

Unfortunately that adapter won’t work. If you send us an email support@droneblocks.io with your team name we can get you sorted out. We’ll need to evaluate if we’d be able to replace the connectors or ship you a new board. Our team can determine that when you reach out.
