Our DEXI battery is having problems as it wont give the DEXI power and it continues to report connection breaks when we attempt to charge it. Do you know why this issue may be occurring?
Side note: Can we update secondary vehicles to include DEXI and exclude Tello?
Can you let us know the total output voltage with the cell checker provided in your kit? When fully charged it should read close to 24.5V.
That’s kinda hard to read in the photo, but it’s showing 24.6V
Hey, I’m @GymLeaderBrock’s teammate. Here’s a more detailed rundown of the issues we’re experiencing:
- The DEXI will light up (both the ARK board and the LED strip) when the battery is plugged in, however the RadioMaster controller/DEXI will beep when you attempt to arm the drone
- QGroundControl will report a battery percentage of 0%, and when you attempt to arm the drone it will throw the error “Arming denied: Resolve system health failures first”
- Battery chargers will throw the error “Connection Break” when attempting to charge the battery. Charging settings have been verified as correct, and the issue persists across chargers.
Thanks for the photo. Has this battery ever been airborne? Also, it’s hard to tell from the cell checker photo but do you not get a total voltage for all cells? It looks like this battery may be bad. If so, we can open an issue with our fulfillment team.
So I checked another forum post about battery problems and I figured out that we had the same issue as them. The issue is that our cell voltages have gone too low, as outlined in this post.
Here’s a picture of our battery connected to a charger:
As you can see, one of the cells is reporting a big fat zero on voltage. We’re gonna try to recover the battery with a specialized charger. Also, it’s never been airborne, we’ve only ever had it plugged in on the table for configuration. @GymLeaderBrock thinks that the battery is bad.
Yikes. That’s not good. We are raising this with the manufacturer today and will report back in the next day or two. Sorry you’re having to deal with this. We have tested many of these batteries during DEXI development and have not run into this issue. The fact that these shipped with a dead cell is very concerning.
What’s the status on this? Will we be getting a replacement or should we try sourcing one on our own accord?
We will replace this for you. Please email support@droneblocks.io with your teacher and school name. Sorry for the hassle and thanks for your patience. BTW we have opened a ticket with the manufacturer so they know about this issue.
