Switching your DEXI WiFi to 5GHz
When competing in congested WiFi environment, it might be helpful to switch to a lesser congested frequency, such as the 5GHz band. This guide will demonstrate how to change your DEXI over to the 5GHz band.
Requirements
-
A drone running DEXI-OS
-
Your computer must support 5GHz WiFi (most modern computers do)
-
An ssh connection to your desi
- List Your Saved Connections
Run the following command on your DEXI to see all available NetworkManager connection
profiles:
nmcli connection show
Make sure you have the pre-installed one that ships with DEXI-OS:
dexi-hotspot
- Force the Connection to Use the 5 GHz Band
NetworkManager refers to 5 GHz as the “a” band (802.11a).
Apply the setting:
sudo nmcli connection modify "dexi-hotspot" wifi.band a
What this does:
- Restricts the connection to 5 GHz only
- Reboot your drone
sudo reboot
- Verify That You’re Connected on 5 GHz
After reconnecting to your DEXI, run this over ssh:
nmcli con show dexi-hotspot | grep band
Make sure band shows that its on “a”
- Switching back to 2.4GHz
Explicitly allow only 2.4 GHz:
sudo nmcli connection modify "dexi-hotspot" wifi.band bg
Reboot after changing the setting.
